NFL NEWS: Philadelphia Eagles Saved Their Season with Blowout of Cowboys: Fan’s View

The Philadelphia Eagles may have saved their season with a blowout win over the rival Dallas Cowboys on October 30th. Philadelphia, the self proclaimed "dream team", entered the game with a
record of just 2-4. A loss to Dallas would have dropped the Eagles to 2-5 and left them in third place in the NFC East and full two games behind the Cowboys. The 5-2 New York Giants would have
had a commanding three game lead over the Eagles. Philadelphia already lost a home game to New York back in week three. A loss to Dallas would have left the Eagles 0-3 in the division.

Philadelphia came out for Sunday's game energized and dominated the Cowboys from beginning to end as they jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. The Dallas defense had no answer for
Eagles running back LeSean McCoy. The third year back racked up 200 yards of total offense and scored two touchdowns against Rob Ryan's defense. McCoy had plenty of help from teammates
Jeremy Maclin and Brent Celek who each caught a touchdown from Michael Vick. The Philadelphia quarterback completed 21 of 28 passes for 279 yards and a 129.9 quarterback rating.

The Dallas defense was a collective no show for the Eagles game. The Cowboys were out-gained by Philadelphia 495 yards to just 267. The only defensive standout for Dallas was linebacker
DeMarcus Ware who recorded 11 tackles and four sacks of the elusive Vick. Unfortunately for Ware his teammates offered little resistance to the Eagles offensive attack.

The Cowboy offense wasn't much better. Tony Romo struggled completing just 18 of 35 passes and throwing an interception. Philadelphia effectively shut down Jason Witten, Romo's favorite target,
as the quarterback completed just four of the 12 passes thrown in the tight end's direction. Top receivers Dez Bryant and Miles Austin also struggled as they combined for six catches and 55 yards.

Sunday's 34-7 whitewashing of Dallas improved the Eagles to 3-4 on the season. Although the record is still below pre-season expectations Dallas and Philadelphia are now tied for second place
in the NFC East. The Eagles have a trip to New York to face the Giants in three weeks in a game that could be for the top spot in the division. After a seemingly disastrous 1-4 start Philadelphia is
back in business and right in the thick of the NFC's playoff race.
